Damaged Goods

During team formations, we’re the last ones to get picked.
But in good times and bad, we usually get picked on.
Celebrities these days claim they were like us before their fame.
Often false though, they do so because it’s a fad these days.

What we’ve been through is difficult.
For we are the bearers of shame.
We are the face of the awkward.
We stand for everything they hate.

Sometimes they, the so-called normal ones, don’t know or fail to recognize that we just want to be like everybody else.
We want to belong.

And so we put on a brave face.
We tried so hard to pretend.
Have courage and take heart as they say it.
Usually our efforts to be accepted end in vain.

No matter where life take us.
We worked hard for it.
And they ask what are we trying to prove?
Does being looked down upon like damaged goods isn’t enough reason?
